Ferocious and uncompromising in their execution, Carcass' ability to dissect the innards of death metal and understand them sonically for us has been the point of their excellence for more than three decades.
Last December (2019), the band released their first single in over 5 years "Under The Scalpel Blade", followed by a 4-song EP titled "Despicable" (October 2020), which sets a strong precedent for the full-length album to be released in 2021: Torn Arteries. With the album title itself referencing an old demo recorded by original drummer Ken Own in the '80s, Torn Arteries marks the conclusion of the modern Carcass discography and harkens directly back to their beginnings over 30 years ago.
Most will find that the only real difficulty in enjoying Torn Arteries is fighting the desire to start all over again as soon as it ends. For a band with such a reputation, considerable new ground is broken here, while retaining the addictive, time-honored Carcass sound that has come to represent the face of true death metal.
