Hailing from Göttingen, Germany, IMMORTALIS' dark roots go back to 1989. When 15-year-old bandleader, guitarist, and vocalist Sebastian Bielecki founded the band under the name BLASPHEMY. His musical goal was clear from day one: brutal DEATH METAL with spinetingling special effects.

IMMORTALIS' first and only full-length album was originally released in 1991. This intricate and conceptual piece perfectly combines musicality and atmospherics and is an excellent example of Sebastian and his followers' musical talents.

The cover art shows people stuck in quicksand with little hope of escape because it represents all that's evil. This evil controls every aspect of their existence. The character depicted on the cover also guards the gates to paradise in hell. There is corruption and just as much evil as there is on earth. If you have connections to this underworld, you might be able to enter, but otherwise, there is no chance to come in.

IMMORTALIS easily avoids the cliches of the death metal genre by generating a gripping feeling with their music by augmenting the heaviest of riffs with keyboards and variable vocal layers. Sebastian is a master of doom, where everything is cold and dark, and he attempts to reflect this vision within his compositions. There is a base of thrash riffs, depending upon the band's need to structure and arrange the songs for the best effect, coupled with a disturbingly heavy production by Andy Classen.

The dark, punishing, and stunning opus "Indicium de Mortuis" is finally reissued on vinyl for the first time after over three decades! Also available on cassette. A must-have for fans of old-school death metal!
