It’s well known that Bamberg is a great place for metal, thanks to bands like the legendary cult thrashers Mega Mosh or the currently booming Kanonenfieber. Now, the 1990-formed Millbrook Rockers (75% of the original lineup) finally shake the cathedral to its core. Their album Evil is Evil is a Mephistophelean manifesto of good taste. Mark Van Der Hell, Derbisch Zeppelin Hunter, Lhynz Von Overstolzen, and Sir Phil De La Morte combine classic old-school metal and anthemic 80s hard rock with anarchic garage punk attitude and horror vibes. Singer Mark Van der Hell’s vocals actually sound like a mix between Tom Warrior and Glenn Danzig.
Celtic Frost meets Ratt? Not quite! Death/Thrash/Heavy/Glam or simply “What the hell was that just now?” metal. An acoustic rollercoaster ride! It’s the product of true metal fans who were able to work on their songs for years, far from civilization (the band is from Breitengüßbach near Bamberg). Enjoy!
