Description

Mercury Records, Rock icons Rush celebrate their 50th anniversary when Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart officially formed Holy Trinity in July 1974. Presenting the world with masterful progressive rock musicianship, brilliant recordings and iconic lyrics and stories, as well as rock radio masterpieces - we present the first, complete Rush anthology spanning the band's entire career, with 50 tracks, including 7 unreleased, on 4 CDs and 7 LPs. Kicking off the collection is the first ever official CD and LP reissue of the band's very first singles "Not Fade Away" and "You Can't Fight It", which fans have been begging for decades to be re-released. Rounding out the anthology are selections from every studio, live and deluxe reissue album the band has officially released. The golden anniversary jewels are 8 rarities: Vault Editions of "Working Man" and "The Trees", both of which contain alternate guitar solos, the former of which was only available as a digital single and the latter of which was never officially released apart from the instrument-based video games. Next up are 5 unreleased live songs, all from 1974, including two featuring original drummer John Rutsey with songs not on the album such as "Bad Boy" and "Garden Road". Closing out the celebration is the fiery final performance of "What You're Doing / Working Man / Garden Road" with Neil Peart on August 1, 2015 in Los Angeles. Hugh Syme - the band's longtime creative director - was commissioned to design the brand new 50th anniversary graphics and new illustrations for Rush's songs. Rock journalists David Fricke and Phillip Wilding share their personal experiences with the band and their greatest achievements in a 100-page hardcover book, available in both formats, featuring incredible photos of the band.
