Helter Skelter Productions, black vinyl, exclusive 16 page LP folder including rare unpublished photos and other memorabilia, lyrics never published before, A2 poster BLACK UNIFORMS are one of the most cult bands from an already-cult scene. Originally active from 1981-1983 and then from 1986 until the beginning of the '90s, BLACK UNIFORMS hailed from the Swedish hardcore punk scene, which sprung up in the wake of Discharge's landmark Why? and then took on a life of its own, often out-Discharging Discharge and successively becoming its own influential paradigm that still endures to this day. As such, BLACK UNIFORMS early on bore the distinct mark of Discharge, but particularly during their second run, just like many hardcore-punk bands the world over, they took on a thrashier aspect that many of the original UK82 bands helped jumpstart - namely The Exploited, English Dogs, and especially Broken Bones. Retroactively, BLACK UNIFORMS are most renown for the membership of one Cliff Lundberg, who played bass for Moderat Likvidation during the former's first hiatus but more so as guitarist for Anti-Cimex's massively influential second period before then going on to form the legendary Driller Killer. However, on their sparse recorded work alone, BLACK UNIFORMS stand supremely tall: completely "of the times," but those times were glorious indeed. The band's lone album - Faces of Death, originally released in 1989 and soon finding an authorized reissue by HELTER SKELTER - is perhaps the best place to start for the full synthesis of metalized Swedish hardcore punk, but BLACK UNIFORMS' scattered demo recordings contained countless gems of raw, greasy glory. Originally released in 2001 on the cult Hardcore Holocaust label, Splatter Punx on Acid collected those demos and introduced the band to a whole new generation hungry for authentic UK82-gone-metal propulsion. And so it goes with this new, fully authorized version of the collection, back in print on vinyl for the first time in over 20 years. BLACK UNIFORMS are on the march, undead and eternal! /// TRACKLIST: A1 to A5 recorded 1986 at Bear League Studio. Originally released as Back From The Grave Demo. A6 to B2 recorded 1987 at Bear League Studio and remixed in 1995. Originally released as "Horror Holocaust" Demo. B3 recorded 1988 at Dundret. Originally released on Really Fast Vol 5 compilation LP. B4 & B5 recorded 1989 at Dundret. Originally appeared on Straight Edge My Ass, a Black Uniforms compilation cassette released in 1990.
