The brilliant conclusion to a trilogy
With over 1.5 billion streams, over 5 million followers, seven consecutive #1 albums in their home country of Finland and three #1 records in Germany, the anticipation for the 10th studio album by symphonic metal stars Nightwish is more than gigantic, and rightly so, because "Yesterwynde", recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, takes you on a majestic musical journey that combines grandeur, drama and heaviness with rich orchestrations and choirs.
'To me, "Yesterwynde" sounds, tastes and feels as strong as the true essence of Nightwish - enriched with new moods and flavors,' Tuomas Holopainen proudly reveals. "3.5 years of intensive work went into the new album. My ambition and dedication skyrocketed and I just couldn't let go of the creative process - nor did I want to. Over time, 'Yesterwynde' became both an intoxicating obsession and a calming sanctuary for me. All aspects of the creation - compositions, lyrics, arrangements, mixing, covers, videos, etc. - were given more attention than ever before."
'The new album is the conclusion of the trilogy - lyrically it follows in the footsteps of its predecessors "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" and "Human. iI: Nature". At the same time, "Yesterwynde" is the band's most lyrically influenced album: our music has never been so closely connected to the lyrics. So here's a tip: if something in the composition is giving you a headache, maybe the words can clear it up,' recommends Holopainen.
Without in any way diminishing the solid performances of guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, drummer Kai Hahto, bassist Jukka Koskinen and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Troy Donockley, it is perhaps worth emphasizing one fact:
The performance of our eloquent storyteller Floor Jansen is once again unparalleled. It is simply breathtaking how the singer makes the songs fly with her performance. The recording and mixing process was followed by another phase of work: mastering, once again carried out by long-standing partner Finnvox Studios. "The album was mastered seven times until we were one hundred percent satisfied with it! When the record was finally finished, a three-year, extremely inspiring adventure came to an end. I was very, very happy." Tuomas Holopainen, Nightwish
