Beschreibung

Faster and Louder, ltd. 300, Formed during 1984 in Yorkshire, England, already in the final stage of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Sherwood consisted of Mark Hodgson on vocals (also known as "Fluff"), Rick Salter on guitars, Phil Johnson on bass, Al Jones on drums and Mark Haddleton on keyboards. Their sound was characterized as melodic Heavy Metal including elements of AOR, 70's Hard Rock, and even some Prog stints. In 1986, the band released their debut 12", called "Riding the Rainbow", co-produced by Mendes Prey singer Jih Seymour. It came in a monochromatic sleeve with a winged horse, gracing the cover. At this time, Heavy Metal was exploding worldwide on an previously-unmatched level, but Sherwood opted for a more sedate keyboard-oriented approach, but still dynamic with strong songwriting quality. Maybe due to this fact, they were unable to secure a record deal and that led the band to lose interest in remaining active, ending their activities at the end of the 80s. Also, in the late 80s, the nucleus of Heavy Metal innovation moved to America, with Thrash Metal and Glam Metal at their peak, in result, the NWOBHM was no longer influential. Later on, Mark Hodgson was still part of bands like Clover, Toranaga and Ramshackle. Presented for the first time on CD format, this release includes the EP and 4 extra songs from the same studio session. Includes 16-page booklet with lyrics, band history and rare photos. Digitally remastered audio. Limited to 300 copies. For fans of Saracen, Shiva and Magnum.
